Ittefaq, VOICE hold knowledge meet

The Daily Ittefaq, in collaboration with rights-based research and advocacy organization VOICE, hosted a Knowledge Exchange Meeting today at Hotel La Vinci, Kawran Bazar, Dhaka.

The event focused on strengthening digital and civic space and combating gender-based disinformation in Bangladesh, according to a statement.

Organized under an initiative Collaborative Actions for Promoting Digital and Civic Space and Combating Gender Disinformation, the project is funded by the European Union, Free Press Unlimited, and Article 19, and is implemented in partnership with VOICE by The Daily Ittefaq.

Sharafat Hussain, Head of Digital at The Daily Ittefaq, opened the meeting by welcoming participants and highlighting the importance of collective efforts to create a safer, more inclusive digital environment.

In the first session, Syed Tawsif Munawar, Sub-Editor at The Daily Ittefaq and Program Officer of the project, presented a comprehensive overview of the initiative’s activities—ranging from audio-visual productions and op-eds to interviews and documentation. He also highlighted key milestones achieved.

Sharafat Hussain further elaborated on Ittefaq’s role in media monitoring and public engagement.

He also previewed the upcoming launch of a dedicated web portal designed to facilitate information sharing and public involvement.

Representatives from VOICE included Musharrat Mahera, Deputy Director; Promiti Prova Chowdhury, Program Manager; and Shanti Pada Saha, Finance Manager.

From The Daily Ittefaq, attendees included Reza Hafeez, Head of IT; Abdullah Al Mamun, Manager of Finance and Accounts; and Shafayet Ahmed, Executive, Digital Marketing.

The meeting facilitated a meaningful exchange of insights between VOICE and The Daily Ittefaq, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in addressing current challenges in the digital space.

The joint efforts of VOICE, The Daily Ittefaq, Article 19, and Free Press Unlimited reflect a shared commitment to promoting informed, inclusive communities and safeguarding civic participation in the digital age.
